The first thing that should surprise you about the Onyx Building is that it is here at all. What stood in its place just a few short years ago was a sad 2 story building, dilapidated, abandoned and unloved. Award winning Journalist and Owner of AT Design, Terese Sears, was able to look beyond what it was and saw what it could be. What ensued was a demolition, design and rebuild that took the better part of 2 and a half years The Onyx Building is now a brand new contemporary addition to Toronto’s oldest neighbourhood.
The Onyx Building
Located at the corner of Richmond St East & Berkeley St, The Onyx is a brand new multi use private residence and exclusive event space in downtown Toronto. Modern, intimate flexible, beautiful.
ONYX MAIN FLOOR EVENT SPACE
The Onyx Building Main Floor Event Space is available for intimate functions, meetings, breakfast, lunch and dinner receptions, performances, media events, press conferences, media junkets, lectures, pop-ups, seminars, exhibits, presentations and conferences.
Wrapped on the east and south side by a wall of windows, the space is bright and intimate. The event space is 650 sq/ft, boasts 10 foot ceilings, separate entrance and a 2 piece washroom,
The space can accommodate : 60 people standing cocktail style, 32 sit down dinner, 48 seated for podium meeting and press conferences. A floor plan is available. Rental of the space may include access to the lower level suite that can facilitate an onsite green room and catering kitchen. Catering is available from Dee Gibson Entertains

ONYX LOVER LEVEL SUITE
The suite is a luxurious lower level 1 bedroom apartment . Beautifully appointed and fully equipped , the space is quiet and private. It is available for short term rentals with a minimum 3 night stay. Through 2019 the rental price available on request.
ONYX PRIVATE OWNERS SUITE
The Onyx Building boasts one of Toronto’s most exciting modern private residences. It is a dramatic two and a half story light filled suite designed and decorated by AT Design.
In addition to the art filled rooms, reception spaces and great kitchen room, the 3000sq/ft Owner’s Suite has a spectacular rooftop terrace area, indoor lounge and private rooftop swimming pool.
The Owner’s Suite is available for receptions, special events, film shoots, and meetings. Rental rate available upon request. Capacity: 50 cocktail reception.
50% deposit is due upon acceptance and signing of the contract; final payment is due the day of the event. All major credit cards are accepted. HST is applicable .
The renter must select a professional caterer and or event planner. Our preferred Caterer is Dee Gibson Entertains but we would be pleased to include your catering choice or provide a list of other recommended caterers or event planners but makes no representation or warrantees about the services that they may provide the renter.
Every caterer must agree to abide by the guidelines contained in this document.
The renter/event planner is responsible for assuring that the caterer has the appropriate food and liquor license as required by the city of Toronto, including provisions of a certificate of insurance.
The renter and/or caterer must provide any additional furniture, dishes and equipment for food preparation.
The renter and/or caterer will be responsible for ensuring the caterers clean thoroughly after the event; this includes removing all trash and recycling from the premises. Failure of the ca-terer to leave the space and kitchen in a clean condition will result in a $250 cleaning fee charged to the renter.
The renter is fully responsible for any damage to the Onyx premises, contents, or persons caused by the renter, caterer, agents, and/or guests. The renter must agree to pay The Onyx for any damage, loss or injury to the Gallery.
Smoking is not allowed.
Decorations should not be fire hazardous.
The Onyx is not responsible for set-up but can be provided at additional cost
The Onyx is not responsible for removal, loss or damage of rented party supplies/furniture.
Set-up and removal must be supervised by the renter, caterer, organizer or the Onyx staff (where agreed in advance) and should be executed within in a reasonable and agreed time frame.
The facilities should remain clean, presentable and safe during the set-up, the course of the event and breaking down.
Requests for an extension of event times are available.
All deliveries must be scheduled in advance,
Set up and clean-up times will vary depending on circumstances, and is billed at the same rate as space rental for the time and day; clean-up involves floors, walls and furniture.
Minor repairs of walls: Renter is responsible for the costs of material and labour charges to repair walls. Assessed on a case-by-case basis.
